First Fusiliers – Army Boxing Champions
Published: July 29th, 2016
We held a lunch in the Tower on Wednesday to say, as a Regiment, how very proud we are of our boxers. The Army Champions were present, along with a group of former Fusiliers and guests from the City. One of the aims of the lunch was to promote the squad and gather some ideas on how to fund it in through the 2016 – 17 season – and beyond.
We had some great ideas and I am very grateful to those who were hugely positive and helpful concerning the opportunities out there. I think raising money for the boxing will be relatively straight forward; I am still looking for ideas as to how we might fund our 50th birthday celebrations?
As an aside I had the following e-mail from one of our guests: ‘ I have to say that my most lasting impression from the lunch is the maturity, eloquence and positive demeanour of the boxing squad. I think they portrayed a great image for the Regiment and I think as a squad in public forum they were a fantastic advertisement for the Fusiliers.’
“I welcome feedback from anyone in the Fusilier family. Whether it’s your experience at the sharp end, ideas for the Regiment or issues you don’t feel are being sorted, let me know at [email protected] “
