My Christmas message to the Fusilier Family
Published: December 14th, 2017
It has been another cracking year for the Regiment – but I know it’s not been without its challenges.
Our Battalions go from strength to strength and this year we have been able to welcome Machine Gun Platoon (Bury), A (Sheldon) Company and C (City of London) Company back into the regimental family. Great news and I’m sure we will reap the benefits of having a Reserve battalion with a truly national footprint.
The pairing of First and Fifth battalions is already starting to have an effect; I saw Fifth Fusiliers in the back of Warriors on the recent exercise in southern Germany. More to follow next year and we have an exciting programme to look forward to including Canada (BATUS) and operations in the Ukraine.
And breaking news: well done to 1st Fusiliers Boxing Team for winning the 1 Brigade boxing competition last night.
Next year is our birthday and I hope you have all seen the outstanding programme that has been put together by the Fusilier 50 team. I know you will all get behind it to make sure it is a year to remember – a chance to celebrate and trumpet our amazing Regiment.
In the meantime I wish you and your families a peaceful and restful Christmas and a very happy New Year. Remember to spare a thought for all Fusiliers who will be away from their loved ones over the festive season and, in the spirit of OAFAAF, let’s ensure we look out for those who might find this time of year a bit of a struggle.
“I welcome feedback from anyone in the Fusilier family. Whether it’s your experience at the sharp end, ideas for the Regiment or issues you don’t feel are being sorted, let me know at [email protected] “
